Nor Luyce provides a unique program for girls in the Gyumri community. We are the only mentoring organization for girls in the area. Nor Luyce works with between 7 and 10 new girls each year and guides them through our 3 phase program. In total each year we work with around 30 teenage girls.
Mentees participate in a 3 phase program, starting when they are between 13 and 14 years old. Our program was developed to improve self-esteem, self-reliance, and a sense of community and then build on these skills and potential.
Phase 1 focuses on our participants’ sense of self. Mentees meet regularly with their mentors, participate in Phase 1 group meetings and attend larger organization meetings with participants from all phases. Our girls learn about self-esteem, their strengths and weaknesses, and begin to think about their goals and dreams.
Participants focus on building their computer, educational, and career skills. They create career plans and focus on their future.
Our 3rd phase includes our oldest girls. These participants focus on tutoring, preparing for college, university, or technical school and begin to learn about financial responsibility.
In addition to these 3 phases, participants gather during 1 Sunday per month to learn about the world around them, build relationships with all participants and volunteers, and have fun.
